Shimla, In a tragic road accident in Himachal Pradesh, India, six labourers from Waltangoo area of Kund in Kulgam district, occupied Jammu and Kashmir, lost their lives, and several others were injured. The incident occurred when their vehicle veered off the road and fell into a gorge near Sunni in Shimla district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the accident took place in Kararghat, about 35 km from Shimla, when the driver of the pickup truck lost control, leading to the vehicle plunging into the gorge. Six labourers were pronounced dead at the scene, while the injured were rushed to the Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital (IGMCH) for treatment.
The deceased were identified as Farid (24), Gulab (43), Sahbir (19), Talib (23), Gulzar (30), and Mustak (30), as confirmed by Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi. Among the injured were Ranjit (the driver), Aslam, Talib Hussain, Akash Kumar, Ajay Thakur, and Manjoor.
The police have initiated an investigation into the incident, and a case has been registered. This tragic event has brought to light the concerns regarding road safety and the vulnerability of migrant labourers traveling in difficult terrains.
