Srinagar, Two individuals were killed in a devastating road accident in the Ramban district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, while a man from Uttar Pradesh died in a fire in Kupwara district. These separate incidents highlight the dangers on the region’s roads and the risk of fire in commercial establishments.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the road accident happened when a vehicle failed to navigate a sharp turn and plunged into a deep gorge near Battery Chashma along the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Ramban district. The vehicle fell approximately 150 meters, leading to the instant death of both occupants, identified as Hakam Din, about 25 years old, and Tariq Ahmed, about 32 years old.
In a separate and unrelated event in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Firoz Ahmed, a non-Kashmiri resident from Uttar Pradesh, perished in a massive overnight fire that engulfed a shopping complex and a hotel in Batergam. The incident not only claimed Ahmed’s life but also caused significant property damage.
These tragedies underscore the ongoing safety challenges in the region, from the perilous conditions on mountainous roads to the fire safety risks in densely packed commercial areas. The local authorities are likely to face renewed calls for improved safety measures to prevent future incidents of this nature.
