According to Kashmir Media Service, the young girl, residing in the Ashpora Handwara area, committed suicide by hanging at her home. Despite immediate efforts by her family to save her, she was declared dead upon arrival at GMC Handwara, deepening the community’s grief and highlighting the severe psychological impact of the persistent conflict on local youths.
This incident is part of a disturbing trend in the region, where prolonged exposure to violence and instability is taking a considerable toll on the mental health of its residents, particularly among the younger population. Additionally, in a related report from Kishtwar district, another life was lost and one person was critically injured in a vehicular accident, further illustrating the ongoing challenges faced by those in the conflict zones of Jammu and Kashmir.
