Gurugram, A devastating incident occurred early Saturday on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway near Tauru when a bus carrying devotees caught fire, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals, including six women. More than 15 others suffered severe injuries in the blaze.
According to Kashmir Media Service, police reported that around 60 passengers were on the bus, all relatives and residents of Hoshiarpur in Punjab, returning from a pilgrimage to Mathura-Vrindavan. The tragedy unfolded as flames were spotted emanating from the moving bus, prompting local residents to alert authorities.
Eyewitnesses described futile attempts to stop the bus as it continued down the highway engulfed in flames. A local resident pursued the bus on a motorcycle to inform the driver of the fire, but it had already caused significant harm by the time it was brought to a halt. Emergency services, including police and fire brigade teams, responded promptly, managing to extinguish the fire. Despite their efforts, eight people perished at the scene, and another succumbed to injuries later, bringing the death toll to nine. The injured were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
