Jammu: Restrictions have been further intensified across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit scheduled to take place on April 19. The heightened measures have led to widespread anxiety among the local population.

According to Kashmir Media Service, authorities have imposed strict curbs on public movement, increased deployment of Indian troops, and carried out arbitrary detentions in several districts, particularly in the Jammu region. These measures have disrupted daily life and deepened the sense of alienation among Kashmiris.

Surveillance has also been significantly increased, with security checkpoints, frisking operations, and digital monitoring becoming more aggressive. This is seen as part of New Delhi’s broader strategy to stifle dissent and project a false image of normalcy in the region.

The Special Protection Group (SPG), responsible for the Prime Minister’s security, has taken control of the venue in Katra, Reasi district. Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the first train to Kashmir on April 19.

Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat chaired a high-level meeting in Jammu to review the security arrangements for the visit. He directed officers to ensure foolproof security measures.
