Islamabad: A delegation from TikTok, led by Emir Gelen, the Director of Public Policy, met with Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, on Wednesday to discuss mutual interests and the enhancement of content quality on social media platforms. The meeting also included Zarrar Hasham Khan, Secretary IT.
According to Press Information Department, the TikTok delegation briefed the minister on the company’s initiatives and future programs in Pakistan. Minister Shaza Fatima emphasized the importance of ensuring quality content on social media, given TikTok’s significant user base in the country. She suggested that TikTok could serve as a platform for educational purposes, allowing users to acquire various skills and basic education. The Ministry of IT expressed its full support for TikTok in this endeavor. In response, the TikTok delegation assured the minister that the company is committed to maximizing meaningful and quality content and is eager to collaborate with the Ministry of IT and its associated departments.
