Islamabad, September 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan says E-Challan system has been made functional in the Federal Capital to check traffic violations. Responding to a question during the Question Hour in Senate on Wednesday, he said so far around 23000 E-Challans have been issued and no traffic violations will go unchecked even if traffic police is not physically monitoring traffic signals.
The Minister of State said Smart Cars have been launched for on ground surveillance. He said 94 percent of surveillance cameras in the federal capital are functional. Similarly, air patrol unit has been established for surveillance through drone cameras.
To another question, the Minister said the Islamabad Police have taken several measures to curb street crimes in the Capital. Responding to yet another question, he said Eagle Squad consisting 150 motorcycles, including 510 police personnel has been established on the pattern of Dolphin Force in Punjab to control street crimes in Islamabad.
Replying to a question, the Minister of State said three new small dams are being constructed at a cost of 80 billion rupees to fulfil the needs of the residents of the federal capital. He said the projects are in PC-1 stage. The House today passed “The PAF Air War College Institute Bill, 2021” and “The Control of Narcotic Substances (Second Amendment) Bill, 2020.
The first bill is aimed at establishing a degree awarding institution of the Pakistan Air Force to disseminate knowledge relating to defence and security studies with special emphasis on air power employment in the joint military environment, as well as in the field of natural and applied sciences, social and behavioural sciences and other allied disciplines.
The second bill is about curbing the use and sale of “methamphetamine” popularly known as “Ice” and “Crystal meth” since this dangerous drug is destroying our young generation. It also covers adequate and reasonable punishment for illicit trafficking of “methamphetamine”, which is a psychotropic substance.
Responding to calling attention, Minister for Inter Provincial and Coordination Fahmida Mirza says that sports policy would be announced after taking the provincial governments on board to promote the sports activities in the country. She said that a sports committee has been constituted, which includes representation of all the provincial sports ministers.
The Minister said the previous governments had formed no sports policy at the national level since 2005 and that was why no efforts were made to promote new talent in the country. The Senate also passed “The Special Technology Zones Authority Bill, 2021”. The House will now meet again on Friday at 10:30.
