KOCHI: A tragic incident occurred Sunday morning when multiple blasts erupted at the Zamrah International Convention Centre, belonging to a Christian religious group in Kalamassery, Kochi, resulting in three fatalities, including a woman, and injuring 52 others.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ernakulam District Collector N S K Umesh reported that the blasts took place at the said venue. Of the injured, 10 individuals were admitted to the burns unit of the Kalamassery Medical College, with two of them, who suffered from burns covering over half of their body, being relocated to another medical facility. An additional eight individuals were placed in the general ward of the medical college, while the other 18 are under observation across various hospitals. Kerala’s DGP, Shaik Darvesh Saheb, conveyed to the press in Thiruvananthapuram that preliminary investigations suggest the blasts were triggered by an IED.
