Lahore, November 8 – The 8th iteration of the Thal Desert Rally, slated for November 9-12, has received approval from Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The Chief Minister directed to ensure top-notch arrangements for the event which is expected to attract over 100 participants, including women, amateur and professional drivers, as well as dirt and quad bike riders.
According to Directorate General Public Relations- Government of the Punjab, the 200 km rally will traverse the districts of Kot Addo and Leh, beginning in the Chobara area of Leh. The event will commence with the registration, medical check-up, and vehicle inspection of the participants on November 9.
The rally will also feature a rich tapestry of cultural activities, including Jhumar and Kabaddi matches, cultural shows, and fort stalls, providing a festive backdrop to the competitive event. Additional entertainment will include puppet shows, magic shows, historical plays, mystic kalam, and qawwali performances.
In preparation for the Thal Desert Rally, a meeting was convened in the Chief Minister’s Office led by Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The meeting, attended by Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Aamir Mir, Provincial Advisor Sports Wahab Riaz, Secretaries Information, Tourism, DG Sports, and other officials, focused on reviewing the arrangements for the rally. Participants also joined the meeting via video link, including the Commissioner of Dera Ghazi Khan and the RPO, emphasizing the collaborative effort in ensuring the rally’s success. The Chief Minister entrusted police and other agencies with security and logistical responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of executing the event without compromise.
