Thailand and Sindh Ombudsmen Strengthen Ties for Enhanced Public Grievance Redressal

Karachi, Thailand’s Chief Ombudsman, in a meeting with the Chief Ombudsman of Thailand/President of IOI Asian Region at the Chief Minister’s House, emphasized the resolution of public grievances, promotion of good governance, increased efficiency, and international cooperation in ombudsmanship. This meeting, attended by prominent figures from both Thailand and Sindh, marked a significant step towards collaborative efforts in improving ombudsman services.

According to Sindh Chief Minister House, the Acting Chief Minister of Sindh lauded the initiative of the Sindh and Thai ombudsmen for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on public complaints handling and international cooperation in the field of ombudsmanship. The meeting included notable attendees such as Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Ijaz Ali Khan, President of Rayong Province Red Cross Chapter Mrs. Nipa Swansugeret, Deputy Consul General of Thailand Mrs. Sripuran Tinti Punya Thipo, Health Secretary Dr. Mansoor, and others.

The visit of the Thai delegation to Sindh, following an invitation from the Government of Sindh, signifies the first of its kind. It culminated in a ceremony witnessed by Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqir, where the two ombudsman offices signed an MoU for mutual cooperation. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that this partnership and exchange of expertise would establish the ombudsman offices as role models in effectively addressing public complaints.

This development marks a crucial step towards enhancing the quality of public grievance redressal mechanisms through international collaboration and shared knowledge between the two regions.
