TEVTA to Recruit 1300 Staff and Launch New Courses in Punjab

Lahore: In a strategic move to address human resource shortages and enhance skill development, the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) in Punjab has announced plans to recruit 1300 teaching and non-teaching staff along with the introduction of new short courses in construction and hospitality sectors. This decision was made during a significant meeting held at the TEVTA Secretariat, chaired by the Provincial Minister of Industries and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 11 September 2024, the meeting focused on various critical aspects including the performance of TEVTA, rationalization of human resources, and issues related to new recruitment. Post approval from the Chief Minister, the recruitment process will commence to fill the evident gaps in the workforce within TEVTA’s institutions. Additionally, amendments in the rules were agreed upon to enhance the organizational structure of TEVTA.

During the session, it was also resolved to initiate eight short courses in construction and three in hospitality as part of the Chief Minister’s Skilled Development Program. These courses, varying from three to six months in duration, are scheduled to start in December after the approval of PC One. The program aims to train 5850 individuals in construction and 200 in the hospitality sector over the next three years.

Chaudhry Shafay Hussain emphasized the importance of developing skilled manpower tailored to the needs of the global market for the country’s development and prosperity. He highlighted that the Punjab government has been proactive in enhancing the quality of technical education, including the initiation of solar study courses at TEVTA institutions.

Furthermore, the Provincial Minister directed the swift implementation of a biometric attendance system for teachers, students, and other staff across TEVTA institutions. He remarked on the high demand for skilled manpower both globally and within Pakistan, underscoring Punjab’s crucial role in meeting these demands.

The meeting was attended by key figures including TEVTA Chairman Brigadier Retired Sajid Khokhar, Senior DG Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Chief Operating Officer, and other relevant officers, all committed to advancing TEVTA’s mission to equip the youth of Punjab with essential skills and training.
