Terrorist Attack Near Karachi Airport Leaves Three Dead, Several Injured

Karachi: The Security Council issued a statement following a terrorist attack near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Pakistan, which left two Chinese nationals and one Pakistani dead and several others injured. The attack, occurring on 6 October 2024, was claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army’s Majeed Brigade.

According to United Nations Pakistan, the attack was condemned by the members of the Security Council as a heinous and cowardly act. The council expressed deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and the governments of China and Pakistan. They also extended wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.

The council emphasized that terrorism poses a significant threat to international peace and security and reiterated the necessity for a coordinated international effort to bring the perpetrators to justice. This includes cooperation under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions among all states to support the investigative efforts of the governments of China and Pakistan.

The Security Council reaffirmed that all acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, stressing the need for global cooperation to combat these threats under the Charter of the United Nations and other international legal frameworks.
