New Delhi, The Modi government has decided to extend the tenure of Army Chief General Manoj Pande for an additional month beyond his scheduled retirement.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the defense ministry announced that the Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the service extension of Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj C Pande until June 30, instead of his original retirement date of May 31.
This extension is granted under Rule 16 A (4) of the Army Rules 1954. Gen Pande, who was commissioned in December 1982 in the Corps of Engineers (The Bombay Sappers), had previously served as Vice Chief of the Army Staff before leading the 1.2 million-strong Indian Army force starting April 2022.
