Tensions Rise in New Delhi Over Hindu Statue Installation at Eidgah Park

New Delhi: The decision by the Modi-led government to install a statue of Rani Lakshmibai at Eidgah Park has sparked significant tension in New Delhi, particularly within the Muslim community, due to the park’s historical and religious significance.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the statue was relocated from the Jhandewala Temple intersection to Eidgah Park, a move that has been met with strong resistance from local Muslim residents who view the park as a sacred space. The Delhi High Court has dismissed challenges against the installation, ruling that the statue could remain, further exacerbating the situation.

The atmosphere around the park was notably tense during Friday prayers, which proceeded under heightened security measures due to fears of unrest.
