Jammu: Former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand has openly criticized the Modi government for disenfranchising the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, accusing it of violating their political and democratic rights.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a public meeting in the Chhamb Mandrian area of Jammu, Chand highlighted the disillusionment of the population with the BJP’s policies, which he claims are adverse to the interests of the poor and common people. He detailed the government’s actions that undermine the constitutional and political rights of the people in Jammu and Kashmir, stressing the widespread feelings of betrayal and deprivation of rights among the residents.
Chand also pointed out the government’s failure to resolve issues affecting daily wage earners and the imposition of smart meter installations, which have resulted in excessive electricity bills. He called for more affordable electricity rates and relief measures for the populace.
The event also saw participation from other senior leaders like vice president Balwan Singh and advocate MK, who echoed Chand’s sentiments about the government’s unfulfilled promises and threats to national democracy and freedom. Senior leader Bhagat Bhushan Dogra also addressed the gathering, lending his voice to the criticisms.
