Islamabad, August 15, 2021 (PPI-OT): In Afghanistan, talks between the government and Taliban delegation are underway in Kabul to find a peaceful transfer of power to transitional government. According to the Reuters and BBC, the Taliban have entered in Kabul but they are still camping outside the city in an attempt to avoid bloodshed.
A Taliban official told Reuters the group does not want any casualties and fighters have been asked to refrain from violence and allow safe passage for anyone wanting to leave Earlier, the Taliban captured the eastern city of Jalalabad without a fight and also took over Torkham border post with Pakistan, leaving Kabul airport the only way out of Afghanistan still in government hands.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Taliban Suhail Shaheen has told the BBC that “there will be no revenge” on the people of Afghanistan. He assured the people in Afghanistan, particularly in the city of Kabul “that their properties, their lives are safe”. The spokesman said they are awaiting a peaceful transfer of power.
