Syrian Education Delegation Discusses Cooperation and Technology Exchange with Pakistani Officials

Islamabad, A high-level delegation from Syria, led by Deputy Minister of Education Mr. Rami Al-Dhulli, met with Pakistan’s Minister of Federal Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. The discussions focused on enhancing educational cooperation and exchanging technological expertise between the two nations.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting also included significant figures such as the Ambassador of Syria to Pakistan, Mr. Ramiz Al-Rai, and the Deputy Ambassador of Pakistan to Syria, Mr. Umar Hayat Khan, along with senior officials from Pakistan’s education ministry. The talks underscored a long-standing fraternal relationship between Syria and Pakistan, with a specific focus on mutual development in the education sector.

Minister Siddiqui expressed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Syria’s educational uplift and emphasized the importance of technical skills development, particularly in information technology, to train millions of Pakistani youths. Secretary of Education, Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, presented various successful government initiatives aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school children and enhancing educational quality and access through programs like the School Meals Program.

Deputy Minister Al-Dhulli acknowledged the historical educational exchanges between the two countries since 1971 and suggested increasing these efforts. He lauded Pakistan’s initiatives in reducing out-of-school children and highlighted the potential impact of technical education on economic upliftment.

The discussions also touched on the provision of scholarships for Syrian students and the possibility of student and teacher exchanges. Dr. Siddiqui offered research-based scholarships to Syrian Ph.D. candidates at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU). He proposed the sharing of Pakistan’s advanced distance learning technologies, including the E-Taleem platform, and the potential establishment of an AIOU campus in Syria.
