Syed Shujaat Hussain Assumes Charge as DG of Karachi Development Authority


Karachi, In a recent development within the city’s administrative and development framework, Syed Shujaat Hussain has officially taken over as the Director General of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA). This transition marks a significant moment for the KDA, as Hussain brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as Additional Secretary Immigration to the forefront of Karachi’s urban development and planning efforts.



According to Karachi Development Authority, the Sindh government issued the notification appointing Syed Shujaat Hussain to the pivotal position within the KDA. Hussain, who has previously served as a finance member within the same agency, is recognized for his extensive experience and is considered one of the senior officers in the department. His tenure as DG KDA commenced with an introductory meeting with senior officers, emphasizing the continuity and enhancement of the Authority’s operations.



During this initial gathering, DG KDA Syed Shujaat Hussain approved a substantial grant of 3 billion rupees aimed at settling pensions and other dues owed to former Director General KDA Naveed Anwar, along with an additional allocation of 40 crores for employee salaries. These financial measures underscore the new Director General’s commitment to addressing longstanding administrative and financial challenges within the KDA.



Furthermore, Hussain has taken proactive steps towards expediting the completion of ongoing development projects under the KDA’s jurisdiction. He issued directives to Chief Engineer KDA Tariq Rafi, urging the efficient utilization of resources to advance the Authority’s development initiatives promptly. Hussain also called for comprehensive reports on the administrative operations of various departments, signaling a hands-on approach to management and oversight.



The meeting saw the participation of numerous key figures within the KDA, including former Director General Naveed Anwar, Member Finance Varail Andhar, Chief Engineer Tariq Rafi, and other departmental heads, indicating a collaborative effort towards revitalizing the organization’s projects and policies under Hussain’s leadership.
