Karachi: Syed Najmi Alam, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Livestock and Fisheries, outlined significant directives for bolstering coastal and agricultural management in Sindh. These include increased raids against illegal fishing nets and a comprehensive vaccination program for livestock, announced during high-level meetings on Thursday.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, Alam presided over discussions with senior officials from the Marine Fisheries and Livestock Departments. He stressed the need for the raiding team to conduct bi-monthly operations to tackle illegal fishing practices along Sindh’s coastline. Furthermore, Alam highlighted the urgent requirement for the Livestock Department to ensure timely vaccinations for 30 million animals this year, particularly to combat the heightened risk of diseases during the flood season.
The meetings, attended by various department heads, also addressed the need for swift renovations of floating jetties and adherence to tender processes. Alam expressed dissatisfaction with the current efforts to combat illegal netting and emphasized the necessity of meeting vaccination targets to safeguard both animal health and local agriculture.
