Lucerne: The Vice President and Foreign Minister of Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis, recently met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan on the sidelines of technical-level discussions between the United States and Iran in Lucerne, Switzerland.
According to Press Information Department, the Swiss Foreign Minister praised Pakistan’s mediation efforts, which were instrumental in the negotiation process that culminated in the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States. Cassis indicated Switzerland’s readiness to support and assist in the follow-up process. The Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed appreciation for Switzerland’s acknowledgment and underscored that the successful implementation of the Islamabad MoU would contribute to regional peace and global economic stability.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the ongoing Swiss investment in Pakistan and expressed hope for further investment by Swiss companies. He offered Pakistan’s assistance in providing highly skilled IT and cybersecurity experts to meet Switzerland’s growing needs in these sectors. Additionally, the discussions included the potential for enhanced cooperation in pharmaceuticals, tourism, and climate change and disaster risk reduction.
Prime Minister Sharif extended an invitation to the Swiss Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient time.
