Islamabad: The ambassadors of Sweden and Belgium presented their diplomatic credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari in a formal ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr today. The event marked the beginning of their official duties in Pakistan, with both envoys engaging in separate discussions with the President to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral relations.
According to Press Information Department, the ceremony was attended by Ms. Alexandra Berg Von Linde, the Ambassador-designate of Sweden, and Mr. Charles-Idesbald Van Der Gracht De Rommerswael, the Ambassador-designate of Belgium. President Zardari extended his congratulations to the new ambassadors and expressed optimism about their contributions to strengthening Pakistan’s ties with Sweden and Belgium.
During his conversation with Ambassador Van Der Gracht De Rommerswael, President Zardari emphasized the importance of Belgium as a significant trading partner. He expressed eagerness to boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation. In his meeting with Ambassador Berg Von Linde, the President remarked on the friendly and cooperative relations between Pakistan and Sweden, based on mutual respect and understanding, highlighting the potential for further strengthening these ties.
The ceremony also featured a guard of honor presented to the envoys by a contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces, underscoring the formal nature of their welcome and the importance of their missions in Pakistan.
