Sweden and Pakistan Explore Opportunities to Strengthen Bilateral Ties


Islamabad: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, emphasized the potential for Pakistan and Sweden to enhance their bilateral relationship through robust economic collaboration and further expansion into areas such as political relations, trade and investment, and education. This assertion was made during his meeting with the Swedish Ambassador, Ms. Alexandra Berg von Linde, at Parliament House.



According to a statement by National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq underscored the value of regular interactions between political leaders, parliamentarians, and business communities from both countries. He advocated for increased dialogue between Pakistani and Swedish parliamentarians to share experiences and insights, recognizing the benefits Pakistan could gain from Sweden’s extensive democratic history. He also emphasized the government’s focus on reviving the economy through favorable investment policies and trade relations.



The Speaker highlighted the creation of a favorable environment for foreign investment in Pakistan, urging Swedish investors to explore opportunities in key sectors such as energy, telecommunications, oil exploration, and manufacturing. He praised the contributions of Swedish companies to Pakistan’s economy and detailed recent initiatives to make the National Assembly more responsive.



Ambassador Berg von Linde expressed Sweden’s commitment to strengthening its economic partnership with Pakistan. She acknowledged the significant potential of the Pakistani market and the eagerness of the Swedish business community to engage further. She emphasized the importance of parliamentary engagement for reinforcing the positive relationship between the two countries and commended the Speaker’s initiatives in this regard.
