Suzuki Motor Corporation to Establish Biogas Plant in Karachi

Islamabad, Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced plans to set up a biogas plant in Karachi, a move that aligns with Pakistan’s growing emphasis on renewable energy sources. The announcement was made during a meeting between Suzuki’s Global Vice President, Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain.

According to Press Information Department, the Japanese delegation led by Mr. Ayukawa met with key Pakistani officials including the Federal Secretary for Industries and Production and the CEO of the Engineering Development Board in Islamabad. The discussion highlighted Suzuki’s long-standing engagement in Pakistan, including its recent initiatives in vehicle exports and local manufacturing advancements. The proposed biogas facility will utilize food waste and animal manure to produce renewable energy, marking a significant step towards sustainable industrial practices.

During the meeting, Minister Hussain reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the automotive sector, which is viewed as crucial for economic growth and technological advancement in Pakistan. He also emphasized the government’s readiness to assist Suzuki in its expansion plans, reflecting a broader strategy to enhance the country’s export capabilities and global manufacturing standing.
