Srinagar, May 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior APHC leader Professor Abdul Ghani Butt has called for settlement of the Kashmir dispute through sustained and time-bound dialogue process between Pakistan and India to ensure peace and stability in South Asia.
Professor Butt talking to an Indian civil society delegation led by O.P Shah that called on him at his office in Srinagar urged the Indian civil society to put pressure on the BJP government to resolve all disputes particularly the grave issue of Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan through talks. In view of changing international geo-politics, Professor Abdul Butt said, both Pakistan and India need to come close and forge friendly relations, and for this to happen, they will have to address the Kashmir dispute, once and for all.
Indian troops and paramilitary personnel continued massive search operations in different areas – right from Srinagar in the Kashmir valley to Doda in Jammu region – to create an atmosphere of fear and terror in the territory.
Meanwhile, Mehbooba Mufti in a statement in Srinagar underscored the need for unity to thwart Modi-led Indian government’s onslaught on honour and dignity of the Kashmiri people. She said Jammu and Kashmir is facing many challenges post abrogation of Article 370 including attempts to disempower the Kashmiri people.
APHC leader Abdul Samad Inqilabi in a statement from a Jammu jail and APHC-AJK leaders in their statements in Islamabad voiced serious concern over Indian advisory barring Kashmiri students from traveling to Pakistan to pursue higher education.
The APHC-AJK Convener, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, said that sedition charges against Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and other Kashmiri detainees had been framed to victimize them for their fight for right to self-determination guaranteed to the Kashmiri people under the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions.
An Indian paramilitary soldier was found dead outside Hydro Electric Corporation building in North Kashmir’s Bandipore district. In another incident, a 24-year-old youth was found dead inside an auto rickshaw in Cheeni Chowk area of south Kashmir’s Islamabad district.
