Suspects Arrested in Lahore Following Virtual Police Intervention in Rape Case

Lahore: In a swift response by the Virtual Women’s Police Station, several suspects have been detained for their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a woman lured under the guise of a job offer. The incident, which commenced with a deceitful invitation from Multan to Layyah, resulted in the victim being assaulted by multiple individuals and subsequently abandoned in a desolate area.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 09 October 2024, the Lahore police acted promptly upon receiving a distress call from the victim. The Safe Cities spokesperson reported that law enforcement provided immediate protection to the victim, registered her case, and initiated a manhunt that led to the quick apprehension of the suspects. This case underscores the effectiveness of the Virtual Women Police Station, which is accessible to women in emergencies by dialing 15 and pressing 2, aiming to bolster women’s safety across various environments.
