Suspected Sabotage in Tamil Nadu Train Collision Raises Concerns

New Delhi: Suspicions of sabotage have emerged in the investigation of a recent train collision in Tamil Nadu, as per technical team analyzing the incident at Kavaraippettai railway station. The team has found indications that the interlocking system, crucial for train safety, may have been tampered with, suggesting deliberate interference.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the investigation team, consisting of senior railway officials from the Signal and Telecom, Engineering, and Operations Departments, discovered that mechanical components of the interlocking system had been intentionally manipulated. This discovery was made during the examination of the October 11 collision between the Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Express and a stationary goods train, which resulted in injuries to nine passengers.

The specific nature of the damage to the interlocking system led investigators to suspect sabotage. “The interlocking system’s mechanical parts are normally damaged due to impact during accidents, but in this case, they were found opened, suggesting external interference,” sources close to the investigation were quoted by Indian media.

Further investigations indicated that the sabotage might have been executed by individuals with advanced knowledge of railway systems, possibly learned from previous attempts to undermine safety measures at nearby locations. Authorities are now focusing on identifying those responsible and understanding their motives, with the investigation continuing to unfold.

The incident has heightened security and safety concerns regarding railway operations, prompting a thorough review of safety protocols across the region.
