Patna: Bihar has been hit by a dramatic increase in political violence, resulting in the deaths of several politicians and sparking concerns over the state’s law and order. The ongoing violence has intensified scrutiny of the Nitish Kumar-led government’s capability to maintain public safety.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a worrying series of political attacks occurred in just the past week, with three politicians killed and others gravely injured. The incidents have heightened anxiety about the escalating law and order issues in the region.
The recent wave of violence includes the murder of BJP leader Munna Sharma, who was shot dead on September 9 in Patna. On the same night, CPI(ML) leader Sunil Chandravanshi was also killed in Arwal district. Additionally, another BJP leader, Shashi Modi, was severely wounded in an attack involving a sword and crude bombs in Bhagalpur district.
These recent attacks are part of a larger trend of violence targeting political figures in Bihar. Last month, another BJP leader was killed in Patna and a Janata Dal-United leader was murdered in Saharsa. The opposition, led by RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, has responded by highlighting a list of 105 serious crimes committed over the past three months, including murder, rape, and extortion, indicating a severe breakdown in law enforcement.
The increasing frequency and severity of these incidents have led to significant criticism of the state government, with many questioning if the current administration can effectively control the situation and ensure the safety of its citizens.
