Mansehra, The construction progress of the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station, a key component of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has surpassed 98 percent, marking a significant milestone towards enhancing Pakistan’s energy infrastructure. This development was announced by He Xiongfei, the chairman and general manager of the project, underscoring its anticipated impact on the country’s energy sector and overall economic growth.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the hydropower station, situated in the Mansehra district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, is set to play a crucial role in optimizing Pakistan’s energy structure by providing a substantial boost to the nation’s economic and social development. The project, with a capacity of 884 megawatts, is being developed by the Overseas Investment Company of China Gezhouba Group, reflecting the deepening economic cooperation between Pakistan and China under the CPEC initiative.

Upon completion, the Suki Kinari Hydropower Project is expected to generate approximately 3.21 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually. This significant addition of renewable energy to Pakistan’s grid will not only contribute to meeting the country’s growing power needs but also reduce reliance on fossil fuels, highlighting a shift towards sustainable energy resources.
