Students Protest in New Delhi, Claim Underreporting of Fatalities in Coaching Centre Flood

New Delhi: In a dramatic confrontation with city authorities, students in New Delhi are alleging that the real death toll from a recent flooding incident at a coaching center in Old Rajinder Nagar has been understated. They claim that several of their peers are still unaccounted for, contradicting official statements.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesting students recently met with Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, pressing for immediate aid for the victims’ families and a comprehensive investigation into the disaster. They specifically requested details about every student who was present in the basement of the coaching center at the time of the flood.

Despite police assertions that only three students perished in the event, the protesters argue that this figure is misleading. They are concerned about several missing friends and criticize the lack of openness from the officials handling the case. The students are calling for the release and cross-checking of biometric entry data against the list of those rescued to accurately determine the actual number of casualties. This dispute has intensified public scrutiny over the management of the crisis and the transparency of the city’s response.
