Jammu: A 22-year-old student of Government Degree College Mendhar was killed after being attacked by unknown individuals in the Dhrana area of Mendhar, Poonch district, in the Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, officials reported that the youth was attacked outside his rented accommodation by assailants wielding a sharp object.

The victim was transported to SDH Mendhar in critical condition, where medical personnel declared him dead on arrival.

The deceased has been identified as Israr Ali, son of Mohammad Saleem, a resident of Kotan Mendhar. He was a final-year student at Government Degree College Mendhar.

In response to the incident, authorities have initiated an investigation and launched a search to apprehend the attackers.

Reports indicate that several youths have recently been detained by Indian forces, with some subsequently found in nullahs in Poonch and Rajouri districts.
