Strike against BJP govt policies impacts banking services in India

New Delhi, March 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Banking services were impacted due to the two-day nationwide general strike called by central trade unions in India. The India-wide strike in protest against the policies of the BJP government was given by the Joint Forum of Trade Unions. The strike was supported by the All India Bank Employees Association to protest against the government’s plan to privatise public sector banks.

Sectors such as coal, steel, oil, telecom, postal, income tax, copper and insurance took part in the strike. The impact of the strike was prominent in eastern India as many branches of public sector banks there were closed, All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) general secretary CH Venkatachalam said.
