Strict Security Measures Implemented in IIOJK Ahead of Modi’s Visit

Srinagar, In anticipation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the valley on March 7th, authorities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir have imposed stringent security measures across the region. These restrictions, framed as necessary for ensuring safety during the event, have led to significant alterations in daily life for the residents.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the authorities have set up restricted access zones, particularly around Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, the venue for Modi’s rally. Entry into these areas is limited to authorized personnel, resulting in disruptions for local inhabitants. Key highways leading into Srinagar are now dotted with roadblocks and checkpoints, where Indian forces, armed with advanced scanning equipment, meticulously inspect vehicles and individuals.

The heightened state of surveillance extends to sensitive locations, monitored continuously by patrols, electronic surveillance, and drone overflights. A comprehensive network of CCTV cameras has been deployed to surveil activities around the event’s location meticulously.

In addition to these measures, public assemblies and protests have been expressly forbidden, and elite security units, including the National Security Guard (NSG) and the Special Service Group (SSG), have been stationed at strategic points around the rally venue. This extensive security arrangement highlights the contrast between the official narrative of normalcy and the reality of ongoing tensions in the region.
