Islamabad: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik met with the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, at the Ministry of Petroleum on Tuesday. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in the energy sector, and exploring economic cooperation.
Minister Malik expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its support during Pakistan’s recent conflict with India, emphasizing the strong ties between the two countries. He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif values Azerbaijan’s solidarity and highlighted the importance of collaboration in oil and gas exploration, energy trade, and investment.
Ambassador Farhadov reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to strengthening economic and energy partnerships with Pakistan. He emphasized the shared vision of both nations for energy connectivity and development, aiming to enhance historic brotherly relations through economic cooperation.
Minister Malik announced his upcoming participation in the Baku Energy Week, where he will represent Pakistan and engage with global energy leaders to promote sustainable energy development partnerships. Discussions are underway between SOCAR Upstream, Azerbaijan’s state-owned company, and Pakistani counterparts for potential collaborations in exploration.
Both sides agreed to expedite joint venture discussions to fully realize their strategic partnership’s potential. They expressed optimism about future collaborations that will benefit both countries and contribute to regional energy security.
