Strategies for Advancing Pakistan’s Digital Future Discussed in High-Level Meeting


Islamabad: A pivotal meeting of the Committee for Digital Pakistan was convened today under the directives of Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif, focusing on accelerating the country’s digital transformation. Co-chaired by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, and State Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the assembly addressed key strategies required to enhance Pakistan’s position in the global digital economy.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the adoption of innovative technologies as crucial for maintaining competitive advantage on the international stage. He noted the government’s efforts in youth development, particularly the distribution of over a million free laptops, which has established Pakistan as the third-largest freelancing nation globally.



The session also highlighted the establishment of four major technology and innovation centers aimed at promoting a culture of research, development, and entrepreneurship within the country. The need for Pakistan to embrace e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and other technological trends was underscored, with particular attention given to expanding internet connectivity to remote areas and the recent launch of a satellite in collaboration with China.



In conclusion, the meeting reinforced the government’s commitment to fostering a knowledge-based economy and securing Pakistan’s digital future. The roadmap formulated during the discussions is set to guide future initiatives aimed at boosting digital literacy, sparking innovation, and ensuring the successful implementation of digital policies.
