Stranded Pakistani Prisoners in Sri Lanka to be Repatriated Within a Week Following High-Level Meeting

Islamabad: A significant diplomatic meeting between Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi and Sri Lankan High Commissioner Admiral (R) Ravindra Chandrasiri Wijegunaratne has led to an agreement to repatriate Pakistani prisoners stranded in Sri Lanka within a week.

According to Press Information Department, the discussions focused on mutual interests, including the swift repatriation of the detainees, who have been in Sri Lankan custody for several years. The officials agreed to expedite the necessary procedures on a priority basis. The Sri Lankan High Commissioner assured full cooperation in this effort.

Further topics discussed included enhancing cooperation in combating drug trafficking and strengthening border security, emphasizing the growing bilateral relations between the two nations. Both parties recognized the urgency of reinforcing their collaborative efforts in these areas to ensure greater security and mutual benefits.
