Statement of the spokesperson of the national assembly regarding the resignations of members of the national assembly of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

Islamabad, December 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):In the context of the news reports being circulated in Electronic and press Media regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf decision to appear collectively in the office of the Speaker of National Assembly and confirm their resignations from their respective seats of National Assembly, the Spokesperson of National Assembly Secretariat has drawn attention to the letter written by National Assembly Secretariat on 22nd December 2022 to PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi in response to his letter.

While welcoming the possible return of PTI members, the Spokesperson National Assembly Secretariat also recalled the contents of the above letter: PTI members of the National Assembly will be called individually and in person to confirm the resignations as per content of above mentioned letter. Furthermore, it is also clarified that every member of the National Assembly of PTI will have to personally confirm his resignation.

PTI members of the National Assembly will be called under paragraph (B) of sub-rule 43 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, 2007 for confirmation of their resignations. It is also reminded that PTI members of the National Assembly were invited to the Chamber of the Speaker National Assembly for confirmation of their resignations from 06 to 10 June 2022. Despite being formally invited, no member of PTI attended the office of Speaker National Assembly to confirm the resignation.
