State Bank of Pakistan Announces Bank Holiday on January 1, 2024

Karachi, The State Bank of Pakistan has declared Monday, January 01, 2024, as a ‘Bank Holiday’. On this day, all banks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) across the country will be closed for public dealing. However, it is noted that employees of these financial institutions will be required to attend work as usual.

According to State Bank of Pakistan, the decision to observe a bank holiday applies to all banking and financial services accessible to the public. The closure will affect all customer-facing operations of banks, DFIs, and MFBs. Despite the closure for public dealing, the internal staff of these institutions will continue their regular office duties on this day.

This announcement is part of the bank’s routine schedule for holidays and is observed annually. During this time, routine banking services such as customer transactions, account services, and public inquiries will not be available. The bank holiday is an opportunity for these institutions to carry out administrative and maintenance tasks that are not feasible during regular operational hours.

Customers of banks, DFIs, and MFBs are advised to plan their banking activities accordingly, considering the closure on January 1. Normal banking operations are expected to resume the following day.
