Islamabad, August 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Bait-ul Mal faces shortage in funding. Moreover, the Standing Committee was communicated that the funds of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal of a decade and a half were more than current available funds. The Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety was briefed regarding operations of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal in its meeting held on 18th August 2022.
The meeting was held in Conference Room of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), BISP Headquarters, Pak-Secretariat, Islamabad under the Chairpersonship of its Chairperson honourable Ms. Saira Bano, MNA. The Standing Committee was briefed regarding operations and workings of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal. The Standing Committee was apprised that Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), an autonomous body set up through 1991 Act is a premier social protection organization performing various charitable functions throughout Pakistan.
It has seven provincial/ regional offices and 160 district offices. MD Pakistan Bait ul Mal, informed that new service rules of Bait-ul-Mal have been made and a new R and D department has been created to better facilitate Parliament of Pakistan.
The Standing Committee inquired about various health initiatives of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal and was informed that during last four years 41,506 Cancer cases 3539 Cardiac cases, 15060 General Medicine cases, 3932 surgical cases, 274,662 Cataract surgeries and 6987 Dialysis cases have been provided assistance by Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal.
The Standing Committee directed that the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal should devise a mechanism through which Honourable Members may also be able to identify deserving people and they may be considered after providing required documents. The Standing Committee also directed that a report containing district wise list of all beneficiaries of last 5 years should be provided to the Committee.
The meeting of the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division was presided over by its Chairperson Ms. Saira Bano, MNA and attended by Members National Assembly; Ch. Muhammad Hamid Hameed, Ms Shugufta Jumani, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Behan, Syed Mehmood Shah, Mr. Salahuddin, Ms. Nuzhat Pathan and Mrs. Farrukh Khan. The meeting was also attended by MD Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Mr Amir Fida Paracha; Secretary, Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety and other senior civil officers
