Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division meets 

Islamabad, February 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Committee passed Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (Amendment) Act, 2021, unanimously Standing Committee approves PSDP amounting to Rs. 903.44/- million for the year 2022-23 of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division

The Standing Committee passed Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (Amendment) Act, 2021, unanimously. The Bill was moved by Minister In-Charge i.e. Prime Minister Imran Khan. The Bill is about the establishment of Panah Gah for poor and needy people. The Standing Committee unanimously approved the Bill and declared that such initiatives shall always be supported by the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division.

The Standing Committee examined the PSDP-2022-23 of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division. The Committee was informed that a pilot project by the name of Tahaffuz worth Rs. 35/- million was started during FY-2020-21. It proved to be a successful project. So, in 2021-22 Rs. 500/- million were allocated to the project by the name of the New Ehsaas Tahaffuz Programme.

This Programme is successfully being implemented and Rs. 9176/- million have been spent. Whereas about more than Rs. 300 million have been released. The representative of the Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division proposed that for FY 2022-23 Rs. 831/- million should be allocated for New Ehsaas Tahaffuz Programme.

The Standing Committee unanimously approved an amount of Rs. 831/- million for New Ehsaas Tahaffuz Programme. The Standing Committee was informed that Ehsaas Delivery Unit was granted 70.63/- million for FY-2020-21 out of which Rs. 59.40/- million were spent. Similarly, Rs. 98.91/- million have been allocated for FY: 2021-22 out of which Rs. 24.86/- million have been spent.

The Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division have requested to allocate Rs. 72.44/- million for the FY: 2022-23. The Standing Committee approved the Budget amounting to Rs. 72.44/- million for Ehsaas Delivery Unit. The Standing Committee unanimously appreciated the efforts of Dr. Sania Nishtar which she was doing for Poverty Alleviation in the country.

The Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Honourable Ali Muhammad Khan and the Secretary, Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division gifted a copy of the Holy Quran to the newly elected Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation Honourable Ms. Saira Bano, MNA.

The meeting of the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division was presided over by its Chairperson Ms. Saira Bano and attended by Members National Assembly; Mr. Sajid Khan, Mr. Sadaqat Ali Abbasi, Sardar Talib Khan Nakai, Syed Mahmood Shah, Mr. Lal Chand, Ms. Kiran Imran Dar, Ms. Syma Nadeem, Ms. Nuzhat Pathan, Ms. Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli, Ms. Aliya Hamza Malik and Mrs. Farrukh Khan. Honourable Minister in-Charge, Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division also attended the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by Special Assistant to Prime Minister Ms. Sania Nishtar, Secretary, BISP, Secretary, Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division and senior civil officer attended the meeting.
