ISLAMABAD: The Standing Committee on Law and Justice convened its 16th meeting to discuss the Alternative Dispute Resolution (Amendment) Bill, 2026. Chaired by Ch. Mahmood Bashir Virk, MNA, the meeting saw participation both in-person and via Zoom from several committee members and ministry officials.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the session began with a recitation from the Holy Quran and the confirmation of the minutes from a previous meeting held in February 2025. The committee examined the proposed amendments to the Alternative Dispute Resolution Bill, which the Ministry of Law and Justice explained as a lawful exercise of delegated legislative authority. The committee, however, requested a comprehensive report and presentation on the existing law’s implementation, performance, and the necessity for the proposed changes. The Ministry’s request led to a deferral of further consideration of the Bill to the next committee meeting.

The meeting was attended by a number of Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) and officials from the Ministry of Law and Justice, highlighting the ongoing legislative process to refine dispute resolution mechanisms within the country.
