Srinagar, September 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): As heat wave conditions continue in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded the September’s second highest day temperature in 132 years on Tuesday.
According to Kashmir Media Service, an official of local meteorological department said that Srinagar, Qazigund and Kokernag recorded record breaking severe heat wave.
“Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 34.2°C, which is 6.0°C above normal. This is the 2nd highest maximum temperature ever recorded in September since 1891. It has broken the 53 years old record of 33.8°C recorded on 01 September 1970,” he said. The all-time highest temperature of 35.0°C was recorded on 18 September 1934, he added.
Moreover, Kokernag and Qazigund continued to witness severe heat wave conditions as the mercury settled 6.6 degree Celsius and 6.7 degree Celsius above normal respectively.
In Qazigund, the maximum temperature was recorded at 33.2 degree Celsius, he said, adding that the previous record was 32.8 degree Celsius on 12 September 2019 while the all-time record is 33.2 degree Celsius.
The maximum temperature in Kokernag settled at 32.0 degree Celsius, which is also similar to the all-time hottest day in September recorded in 1977.
