Islamabad, In a consultative session on interfaith harmony, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to equality, unity, and the peaceful coexistence of all faiths. Members from diverse religious backgrounds and organizations working for interfaith harmony attended the session.
According to Press Information Department, Mushaal reiterated Pakistan’s founding principles regarding minorities as established by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. She stressed that the nation’s first cabinet, comprising members of various faiths, illustrated Pakistan’s dedication to diversity and unity, a concept also symbolized in the national flag’s colors.
Mushaal raised concerns over the global misrepresentation of religions by specific ideologies, particularly Zionist and Hindutva, which threaten global peace. She commended the contributions of minorities in Pakistan’s progress and development, including their role in the nation’s creation. She highlighted the Kartarpur Corridor initiative as a testament to Pakistan’s dedication to religious harmony, allowing Sikh pilgrims to visit holy sites annually.
The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister also announced her commitment to establishing interfaith societies in educational institutions and adapting curricula to promote peace and respect for all faiths. She intends to work with the Higher Education Commission to introduce minority-specific scholarships and ensure the implementation of education and employment quotas for minorities.
Mushaal affirmed the empowerment of district-level interfaith committees, promising to issue instructions for regular meetings to address grassroots challenges faced by minorities. She announced the establishment of two new churches in AJK and the restoration of temples nationwide, emphasizing collaborative efforts to foster interfaith harmony for lasting peace in Pakistan.
