Speakers pay homage to Syed Ali Gilani

Muzaffarabad, September 05, 2023 (PPI-OT):A seminar was organized in University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, in connection with the second martyrdom anniversary of the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani. The speakers of the seminar paid glowing tributes to Syed Ali Gilani for his unwavering commitment to the Kashmir cause, contribution and his sacrifices in the Kashmir freedom movement. They described veteran leader as the most powerful voice of both parts of Jammu and Kashmir and a symbol of Pakistaniyat in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter leader, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, in his address said that Syed Ali Gilani was a politician, preacher and a leader of the freedom movement who has become a role model for the youth of Kashmir. He said that the veteran leader wanted settlement of the Kashmir dispute through holding of a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, said that Syed Ali Gilani endured the hardships of imprisonment for a long time in Indian jails for his political ideology but didn’t compromise his stance despite facing India’s wrath.

Noted intellectual and journalist, Syed Arif Bahar, described Syed Ali Gilani as a leader of the freedom movement of Kashmiris whose life, thinking and struggle are deeply influenced by the thought and ideology of Allama Iqbal and Syed Maududi.

Executive Director of Youth Forum for Kashmir, Zaman Bajwa, proposed establishment of Syed Ali Gilani Corner in the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to inform the new generation about the life, struggle and sacrifices of the veteran leader. On this occasion, a documentary film on the life and struggle of Syed Ali Gilani was also screened by the Youth Forum for Kashmir.

Sardar Umair Parvez of National Defense University, Islamabad, in his speech said that Syed Ali Gilani had dedicated his life to the freedom movement of Kashmir. He said due to his high character, even enemies of the veteran leader respected him.

Kashmir Youth Alliance chief Dr Mujahid Gilani, noted TV anchor Raja Faisal, Kashmir University Nazim-ul-Umoor Dr Imtiaz Awan, Additional Registrar Sardar Zafar Iqbal, International Relations Department Coordinator Dr Mehmood Hussain and others also addressed the seminar.
