Lahore, January 26, 2023 (PPI-OT):Speakers of a webinar arranged by Lahore-based Dyal Singh Research and Cultural Forum, today, highlighted the plight of the minorities in India. The event held in connection with the Constitution Day of India and the state of fundamental rights in the country was hosted by Prof Dr Abdul Razzaq Shahid, the Director of the Forum. The participants said though the constitution has declared India a secular country yet in reality India seems to belong to extremist Hindus only especially after Modi came to power in the country.

They maintained that what is written in the constitution as far as the rights of minorities are concerned is not implemented on ground. They pointed out that the way democracy is being run in the country it has created a sense of deprivation among the minorities and given rise to Hindutva extremism. One of the participants also said we must ponder over the question why the Kashmiris are observing India’s Republic Day as Black Day.
