Speakers hail role of Kashmiri women in ongoing freedom struggle

Islamabad, March 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Speakers at a seminar organized by APHC-AJK chapter on the occasion of International Women’s Day have expressed grave concern over the plight of women in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The event was chaired by APHC-AJK Convener Mohammad Farooq Rahmani.

The speakers appreciated the role of women in the freedom movement of Kashmir and said that India was using Kashmiri women as a weapon of war. However, Kashmiri women were resolutely fighting against Indian brutalities.

They said that Kashmiri women leaders Aasiya Andrabi, Fahmida Sufi, Naheeda Nasreen and many other Kashmiri women are detained in different jails of India to be kept away from the Kashmir freedom movement by the Modi regime. The speakers said that the Indian troops had subjected more than 10,000 Kashmiris to enforced disappearance in custody, forcing thousands of women to live a life of half-widows.

In Muzaffarabad, an anti-India rally followed by a seminar was taken out to express solidarity with the IIOJK women. The events were organized by APHC-AJK leaders. Addressing the rally and the seminar, speakers said that the root cause of the sufferings of the Kashmiri women is the Indian illegal occupation of J and K and urged the international community to help bring honourable and just resolution of the Kashmiri dispute to restore the dignity of all the Kashmiris including the tormented women in the territory.
