Speakers express concern over HR abuses in India at Chandigarh seminar

Chandigarh, December 11, 2022 (PPI-OT): Speakers of a seminar held in Chandigarh, the capital of Indian Punjab, have expressed deep concern over human rights violations in India and appealed to the international community and human rights organizations to take notice of the rights abuses. A large number of lawyers, intellectuals and students participated in the seminar held, yesterday, on the occasion of “World Human Rights Day”.

The Chairman of United Peace Alliance, Mir Shahid Saleem, represented India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in the seminar. While discussing the serious situation of human rights in the occupied territory, he said all the basic rights of the people are being violated. He said since the Modi-led fascist Indian government revoked IIOJK’s special status on August 5, 2019, there has been a tremendous increase in human rights violations in the territory.

Mir Shahid Saleem said India is constantly robbing the rights and natural resources of the subjugated Kashmiris and their lives have become miserable due to its brutal tactics. The seminar unanimously passed a resolution demanding the immediate release of all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders, activists, youth and journalists languishing in different jails of India the occupied territory.
