Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) in Islamabad held a seminar and walk to mark Kashmir Black Day, condemning India’s control and actions in Jammu and Kashmir. The event featured participation from university faculty, officers, staff, and students, focusing on solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the day began with a rally at the university, where participants displayed banners with messages such as “We stand with you” and “Kashmir is Pakistan’s jugular vein,” while chanting for Kashmir to join Pakistan. The rally was followed by a seminar that highlighted the need for international intervention and compliance with United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding the Kashmir issue.
Speakers at the seminar urged the global community and human rights organizations to address the reported human rights violations by Indian forces in the region. They emphasized the importance of social media in raising global awareness about the situation in Kashmir. APHC-AJK leader Sheikh Abdul Mateen expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support, underscoring the need for continued political, diplomatic, and moral backing for the Kashmiri cause.
Speakers included Mudasir Rasheed, President of Bahaali Foundation, Jamshaid Sultan Malik, Executive Producer at PTV World, and several academics and leaders from AIOU. The event, organized by the Department of History with support from the Directorate of Student Advisory and Counselling Services, aimed to reinforce support for the Kashmiris’ struggle.
