Speakers at seminar vow to liberate Junagadh from India one day

Islamabad, March 09, 2022 (PPI-OT):Speakers at a seminar while highlighting the history of Junagadh condemned India for forcibly occupied the Muslim ruler-led State. The seminar on the issue of Junagadh was held at NUML University in Islamabad, which was attended by Nawab of Junagadh Jehangir Khan and its Divan Sultan Ahmad Ali as special guests. Around 400 people including Director General NUML University Brig. Ibraheem, faculty members, heads of departments, teachers, students and other notables participated in the event.

In his address, Nawab Jehangir Khan thanked Government of Pakistan for including Junagadh in the country’s map on August 4, 2020. He said that a memorandum on India’s invasion of the State was submitted to UN office in New York on February 6, 2022, stating that Junagadh is part of Pakistan, and we will liberate it from India, one day. He said that the way Taiwan is part of China, and Beijing is using peaceful means to secure it, we will also continue our peaceful struggle to make Junagadh part of Pakistan.

At the end of the seminar, Brig. Ibraheem distributed shields among Nawab Jehangir Khan and Sultan Ahmad Ali. It is worth mentioning here that at the time of independence of Pakistan, Junagadh State under the Muslim ruler Nawab Mahabat Khanji signed accession with the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

India through an act of brazen aggression transgressed upon Muslim-ruled princely state of Junagadh and occupied it by force soon after the partition of Indo-Pak sub-continent. Junagadh became the first princely state to accede to Pakistan on 15 September 1947. History is evident to the fact that Nawab Mahabat Khanji, the then governor of Junagadh reached an agreement with Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and signed ‘Instrument of Accession’.

Indian Army advanced its troops and occupied Junagadh on 9 Nov 1947. Indian occupation on Junagadh is blatant violation of ‘Article 26’ of ‘Vienna convention of law on treaties’. Muslims of Junagadh observe 9th November as a “Black Day” of Indian occupation on their homeland. “Junagadh is Pakistan” is not only a slogan of Junagadh State but also a dream seen by the ancestors both Quaid-i-Azam and Nawab of Junagadh Nawab Mahabat Khan.

On 5th August 2020, Pakistan has approved and released new political map of Pakistan, which includes territories of J and K and a part of Ladakh. The map also includes Junagadh, Manavadar and Sir Creek in Indian Gujarat as part of Pakistan. Recently, Nawab of Junagadh Mohammad Jahangir Khanji appealed to PM Imran Khan to become an ambassador of Junagarh as he did in the case of Kashmir and highlight the issue of liberation of the state from Indian occupation at all international forums.
