Islamabad, September 01, 2023 (PPI-OT): Speakers at a conference in Islamabad, today, paid homage to veteran Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani, for the services and sacrifices in the Kashmiris’ ongoing struggle for right to self-determination.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter organised the conference on the 2nd martyrdom anniversary of Syed Ali Gilani. The event was presided over by APHC-AJK Convener, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, while Speaker AJK Assembly, Chaudhry Latif Akbar, was the chief guest.
The speakers highlighted various aspects of the life of Syed Ali Gilani. They reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue the freedom struggle in line with the principled stance the martyred leader remained adhered to throughout his life. They said the Kashmiri people will continue their struggle for the right to self-determination as enshrined in the UN Security Council resolutions that called for the settlement of the Kashmir dispute through holding of a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir. They said the Kashmiris will also continue to follow the footsteps of the veteran leader till they achieve freedom from the Indian yoke.
The speakers strongly denounced India’s unilateral action of August 05, 2019 and illegal detention of thousands of people who were being victimized for challenging India’s illegal occupation of their homeland, especially Hurriyat leaders like Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Dr Abdul Hameed Fayaz, Ayaz Akbar, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Aasiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi. They also drew attention of the UN and international human rights organizations towards the grave human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops and police personnel in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The speakers included Mushaal Hussain Mullick, Pakistan Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Human Rights and Women Empowerment; Sardar Muhammad Yaqub Khan, former AJK Prime Minister and President, Dr Raja Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami AJK; Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan, former Prime Minister AJK; Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, Leader of Opposition AJK Assembly; Hassan Ibrahim, Member of AJK Assembly; Abdul Rasheed Turabi, former Amir Jamaat-e-Islami AJK; Raja Najabat Hussain, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Self-determination Movement International; Afzal Butt, President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists; Anwar Raza, President National Press Club Islamabad; Abid Abbasi, President Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists; Advocate Nasir Qadri, Executive Director Legal Forum Kashmir; Zaman Bajwa, Executive Director Youth Forum for Kashmir; Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Syed Yusuf Naseem, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi and Muhammad Rafiq Dar.
At the end of the conference, special prayer was held for Syed Ali Gilani and all other Kashmiri martyrs.
