Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has praised the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for its unprecedented direct and indirect recoveries amounting to Rs. 5311 billion during the fiscal year 2023-24. This significant recovery, equating to approximately $18.6 billion, was highlighted during a meeting with NAB Chairman Lt. Gen (R) Nazir Ahmed Butt at the Parliament House in Islamabad.
Sadiq noted that the recovery achievements reflect NAB’s transformation into an apolitical, fair, efficient, and trustworthy organization. He remarked that no other anti-graft agency globally has accomplished such a substantial recovery, underscoring the effectiveness of NAB’s operations.
The Speaker also emphasized his satisfaction with NAB’s austerity measures and the complete digital transformation through AI-based systems. He acknowledged the improvements in complaint facilitation and the automation and upgrading of NAB’s operations. Sadiq further applauded the establishment of Special Accountability Facilitation Desks across all provinces, which he believes have contributed to NAB’s role as a business-friendly entity.
NAB Chairman Lt. Gen (R) Nazir Ahmed Butt expressed gratitude for the Speaker’s commendations and reiterated his commitment to developing NAB into a model institution. Deputy Chairman NAB, Mr. Sohail Nasir, was also present at the meeting.
